Save time and money with a solar powered energiser

Who doesn't know them: battery-operated electric fence energisers. For a long time, these devices were seen as the best solution for remote or mobile electric fences. Their low purchase cost often makes these devices a very economical choice.

Some users experience battery energisers as relatively high-maintenance. You need to check regularly whether the device is still working properly and charge or replace the battery. Apart from the time this costs you, you run the risk of running out of battery power while there are animals in the field and you are occasionally dealing with a heavy battery.

The solution: solar energy

Technological innovations have led to the ultimate solution for remote or mobile electric fences: solar-powered energisers. It sounds new, but Gallagher introduced the first solar devices to the market back in the 1980s. With these devices, they created a continuously growing demand. By constantly investing in bringing new devices onto the market, they have become better and more reliable. For instance, they are currently working hard on a range of lightweight devices with a lithium battery. This is the same kind of battery used in a mobile phone and ensures high longevity and reliability. Lithium batteries are also much lighter and smaller. This makes them even more manageable. Ideal for fences that need to be moved frequently. The Gallagher S6 and the Gallagher S12 are the first solar energisers with a lithium battery.

And the length you want to power? This aspect no longer plays a role. From 500 metres to 30 kilometres; there is a Gallagher device available for every distance. For even longer distances, you can go for a solar box. This is a plastic pallet topped with a large solar panel and an electrified vandal proof box containing the energiser. This solution can power up to 80 km of fences.

No sun, no problem

The new generation of Gallagher devices are full of smart technology which means they work perfectly even without sunshine. In fact, they even work after three weeks without direct sunlight. This makes them a reliable solution that you will not have to worry about for a long time. Thanks to a clever design, the devices are lightweight and easy to move and install. They are also resistant to all weather conditions and very robust. Just what you need on the farm.

Saving hundreds of pounds

Many light battery devices under 1 Joule operate on a non-rechargeable battery that lasts a maximum of one season. Although cheaper to buy, these devices actually cost more per year when you compare them to a solar-powered device. If you compare the BA40 device with non-rechargeable battery to the S40 with internal battery, you will quickly save more than 50% in annual costs based on a 10-year lifespan! In addition, choosing an S40 is more sustainable because you don't have to dispose of anything with a flat battery every year.

When you start comparing heavier battery devices with heavier solar energisers, you will see that the total purchase cost of solar energisers can be even lower. This is because heavier batteries cost relatively a lot of money and a solar energiser has a smaller battery. If you compare the B200 with a separate battery to an S200 with internal batteries, the solar energiser is over 10% cheaper. Based on a service life of 10 years, you will save around 20% in annual costs. In this case, the service life of the (internal) batteries is about the same but the replacement costs of the heavier battery are higher.

7-year warranty

All Gallagher energisers are extensively tested before delivery. This ensures that you can trust the device and that your animals are safe. At Gallagher, they are even so sure of their energisers that they offer a 7-year guarantee on all of them!
