Netting - an easy and quick solution for mobile fencing

Do your animals often change paddocks and are you looking for an easy and quick way to move your fencing? Then netting might be the solution for you. When moving your animals you can easily move the fence with them, without it taking up a lot of your time. Netting is also very suited to use when you want to protect your animals or crops against predators, such as wild boar or wolves.

Choosing the right netting depends on:

1. The type of animal in your enclosure

It is important you choose netting that is specifically designed for the type of animal you want to keep behind it. This has to do with the size of the mesh on the netting; these are specific to different animals. When using the wrong mesh size, there is a change animals will break through the netting or they can get entangled in the mesh. Also the height of netting is specific to each animal, as one animal can jump higher than others, so you need to keep this in mind as well when choosing your netting.

2. The size of the area you are looking to fence

All netting are easy to interconnect for when you need to fence off a larger stretch. You do have to keep in mind that when you connect multiple netting, the resistance will increase. The higher the resistance, the more is asked of your energiser. Therefor you will need a more powerful energiser to keep enough power on all the netting. Are you looking to connect multiple netting? Then we advise you to choose the Turbo netting, as this has a lower resistance and thus very suited for longer stretches.

3. Whether or not you want a single or double pin

Netting with a double pin at the bottom are easier to tension and are more securely put in the ground. These type of netting is slightly more expensive and weigh more than netting with a single pin. Netting with a single pin are slightly less securely placed in the ground and are easier to get tangled when you move the netting.

Gallagher Tip:

Make sure there is always power on your netting. If there is no voltage on the netting, animals will walk, chew or push through.

Which energiser goes with my netting?

When using netting the resistance on the fence is higher than when you have a multi-wired fence. This is due to the mesh structure, but also due to the fact, the bottom wires are very close to the ground. The chance of vegetation touching the bottom electric wires is high, even further increasing the resistance. It is important when choosing your energiser you keep this in mind and you choose a unit powerful enough to counter this.
