Vidoflex electric fence polywire in different variants, what are the differences?

The Vidoflex electric fence polywire comes in 4 different variants; Vidoflex 3, Vidoflex 6, Vidoflex 9 Plus and Vidoflex 12 Plus. The quality differs and we tell you more about that in the text below.

Vidoflex 3 & 6

Vidoflex 3 PowerLine is twisted polywire containing 6 stainless steel wires. The wire has a diameter of 2 mm and is suitable for mobile fences shorter than 500 metres. Conduction is good and the wire has a resistance of 6.8 Ohms per metre. There is a 5-year UV guarantee on this wire. Available in green & terra in 100m and white 200m.

The Vidoflex 6 PowerLine is similar to Vidoflex 3 but consists of thicker polywires and stainless steel wires, giving Vidoflex 6 a higher tensile strength and better current conductivity. As a result, its resistance is 3.8 Ohms. For this reason, Vidoflex 6 is suitable for medium-length fences and is available in white & terra 200 and 400 metres and 1000 metres white.

Vidoflex 9 Plus & 12 Plus

Vidoflex 9 Plus and 12 Plus are woven and have a diameter of 3mm. Both variants are suitable for mobile fences longer than 500 metres. It is widely used in fences for cows, sheep & game. The differences between these two types are in the number of polywires and the number of copper wires. The Vidoflex 9 contains 3 and the Vidoflex 12 contains 4. They both have 6 stainless steel wires. As Vidoflex 12 contains more copper, this wire conducts the best.

The core and the sheath

The electric fence is made up of two parts; a core and its sheath. The core consists of a polywire with the copper wires wrapped around it. This core is surrounded by interwoven plastic and stainless steel wires. The advantage of this is that, if the outside is damaged, the wire will always continue to conduct through the copper wires in the core, keeping your animals inside the pasture. This construction also makes the wire round and dimensionally stable, which benefits conduction.
Because the copper wires are wrapped around the core, they always stretch sufficiently when the wire is stretched. When relaxed, no barbs are formed and the conduction remains in place. The copper content is also increased and the wires touch each other, improving conduction. Vidoflex 9 has a very low resistance of only 0.06 Ohm and conducts 80% better than standard electric fence. With Vidoflex 12 Plus, the resistance is even reduced to 0.046 Ohms.
Another advantage of the woven structure is that the wire remains better intact during regular winding and unwinding on a reel, external damage or weathering. A 5-year UV guarantee is issued.

Renewed core

Previously, the copper wires lay straight along the core. In the improved product, as previously described, the copper wires are wrapped around the core. This provides more contact area with the outer stainless steel wires and better conduction because there is more copper in the wire and the copper wires are intertwined. In addition, the plastic core of the wire is the same as the outside, resulting in equal stretch properties.

In this video, we show you what the improvement looks like.
