How do you detect that there is a problem with your fence? Is it when animals walk on the wrong side of the electric fence? Or do you regularly use a tester to check whether the wire still has sufficient voltage? Gallagher's i Series solution sets a new standard in animal fence safety. With advanced technology, it continuously ensures the effectiveness of the fence and increases the safety of your animals in the pasture.
An intelligent energiser
There are different types of energisers available. It is important to choose a device that has sufficient power so that there is sufficient current everywhere on the fence. Gallagher recently launched the MBS1000i, a new energiser with a power of 10 joules. This device belongs to the i Series smart energisers. What makes these devices so special?
A feature of the i Series devices is that it has advanced adaptive control module. This allows the devices to adapt to the length and state of the fence. If grass or vegetation makes contact with the wire, extra current is automatically added to keep the fence effective.
The new MBS1000i is equipped with an external module, the Gateway controller, with LED lights. This allows you to see at a glance how the electric fence is doing. You can place the Gateway controller where you often walk. The module has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and is linked to the free Gallagher app on your smartphone. Using the app, you can switch the device on or off remotely and adjust the voltage. A standard energiser constantly delivers about 9000V, which is safe for humans and animals. But for sensitive animals, a lighter shock of 3500V is sufficient. The other i Series devices, are the MBS1800i, MBS2800i and M5000i, and come standard with an LCD display on which you can read data and change settings. This display can be replaced by the Gateway controller to take advantage of app connectivity.
In addition, the i Series devices constantly checks measurements on the fence. The device automatically detects when something is wrong and immediately sends you a notification on your smartphone or on the LCD screen. So you are quickly informed and can fix the problem immediately.
Finds faults quickly
If you want to find faults quickly and take action, you can divide your fence into different zones and place a fence monitor at the beginning of each zone. This i Series accessory constantly measures voltage and amps. If a fault occurs, you can immediately see which zone the fault is in. A new version of this monitor was introduced in 2024, which has a solar panel.
The i Series remote control has a built-in fault finder, you can quickly see in which direction the fault is or when you are in the pasture near the relevant zone. This saves you a lot of time and quickly resolves the unsafe situation. By holding the remote control against the wire, you can switch off the energiser at the touch of a button. This allows you to fix the malfunction without the risk of getting a shock yourself.
The most powerful energiser
The M5000i is Gallagher's most powerful energiser. By integrating innovative technology and adaptive control, Gallagher has developed a device that matches the strength of its predecessor, the MR5000 with 50 joules, but still complies with EU regulations of 15 joules. This makes the M5000i suitable for fences of up to 100 km. However, the device is also widely used for shorter fences, as it can deal with imperfections and burn away vegetation against the wire. It is still important to put a strong energiser on a good quality fence. Putting more current on the fence can cause bad connections to spark and rust or burn out over time.
