Insulators off-set
Do you have a traditional wooden fence for your animals? Then we still recommend an electric fence but in addition to the wooden fence. This is to prevent damage to the wood from animals leaning on and biting your fence. Wooden fences contain salt, which the horses like. With offset or distance insulators, you ensure that your animals can no longer reach the wood and that your fence remains neat and tidy.

Offset Insulators for Electric Fencing
Adding offset insulators to your fence helps protect it from animal pressure, extending its lifespan. Offset brackets support electrified wires on one or both sides of existing non-electric or wood and steel fences, preventing animals from leaning or rubbing against it.
Types of Offset Insulators
- Live Tip Offsets: Electrified at the tip to discourage animals from rubbing, reducing wear. Suitable for both steel and wood posts.
- Ring Top Offsets: Versatile for wood post fences, allowing flexible wire positioning with durable, galvanized spring wire.
- Wire Offsets: Twist onto existing fence wires to add an electrified layer that increases fence longevity.
Selecting and Installing Offset Insulators
Offset brackets should be mounted at about two-thirds of the target animal’s height. For mixed animals like cattle and sheep, consider two offset wires (one for each). Inspect and repair any weak wires on existing fences to prevent shorting.
