What components does the Gallagher weighing system consist of?
For a complete system, you will need the following:
1. Crush, crate or platform
These are sturdy structures in which animals can be placed safely during weighing. Sometimes they are specially built for weighing, but they can also be a treatment station that is used for multiple purposes.
2. A weighing scale
Gallagher offers accurate weighing scales that measure and record animal weights, from simple models such as the W0 to more advanced ones such as the TWR-5 with extensive data analysis capabilities. Choose the right weighing scale depending on your needs: simple weighing, tracking weight gain or extensive data collection.
3. Loadbars
These are support structures with integrated sensors that are placed under the weighing platform or crate to record the weight of animals. Loadbars are available in wired and wireless versions. Wired loadbars are robust and reliable, while wireless loadbars offer flexibility and eliminate the risk of damaged cables.
4. An EID reader
This device reads electronic identification tags (EID) from animals and automatically links them to individual animals during weighing. Gallagher supplies portable readers such as the HR4 and HR5, which are ideal for mobile use. Fixed readers are suitable for installation in a fixed location, such as a crush or crate.
5. Gallagher Animal Performance App
The app completes your system and gives you insight into your animals' performance at all times. You can easily synchronise weights and animal data, generate and analyse reports, and even edit data on the go. The basic features are free, but for more detailed analyses, you can upgrade to one of the paid subscription plans. The software helps you make better-informed decisions and improve the productivity and profitability of your business.
