Strategic placement, striking results

Richard and his partner had a back garden where ducks, chickens, rabbits and quails live. But rats had become more than just a nuisance; they posed a real threat.

“We were going through a 10kg bucket of rat poison every six weeks,” says Richard. “Rats were carrying off ducklings, killing quails and attacking baby rabbits. We had to do something.”

The turning point came after a conversation in the local shop. Someone mentioned Goodnature’s self-resetting traps. Richard was interested and ordered two Smart Trap Kits in March 2024. The two traps were placed in the areas of the property where the rats are most active. One is next to the chicken coop and the other behind the rabbit hutches, by a wall.

“We placed both of them close to visible burrows. One trap has now caught 115 rats, the other 315. It’s been madness,” says Richard.

Since then, they have added two Starter Traps, one in the duck run and one under the garage. The results from the traps continue to impress.

“We didn’t expect to catch so many rats. One of the traps caught nine in a single update.”

The results aren’t just visible in the app: the amount of animal feed used has dropped significantly and quails and other birds have remained unharmed since the traps were set. The switch to poison-free traps has made a huge difference on Richard’s land.

“Not only in terms of the number of animals killed, but also in terms of safety. We felt increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of secondary poisoning. We have dogs, and we didn’t want to risk local birds being affected either.”

The traps have proved durable and efficient. “We’ve had gas cartridges that have yielded over 24 catches. The traps just keep on working.”

His advice to others with similar problems? “If you’re troubled by rats, Goodnature’s traps are definitely worth a try.”
